Antique ornament: a brief characteristica

Antique ornament – one of the most ancient of artistic genres in the history of the world. He was born in the form of painted vases in the 3rd century BC and continued its existence until the beginning of our era. Its value lies in the fact that he not only enriched the ancient Greek culture fine examples of paintings, but also formed the basis for the masters of the Renaissance, who in his work focused on the best examples of vase painting. The creation of light and shade in the painting gave the image depth and realism, which became a real breakthrough in ancient art. Types of paintings

Antique ornament depicted generally on vessels in which the Greeks stored wine, oil or water. There were two view paintings black lacquer and krasnyakov. Antique ornament can be divided into two types: Eastern and geometric. In the first case, craftsmen imitated Oriental motifs, drawing griffins and sphinxes. But very soon this form of art evolved and artists began to paint from nature, or rather, taking as a basis of the plot elements of nature. Images are stylized and somewhat geometric, but every time the Greeks used different versions of tracks and thus reached the originality of the image. So, antique ornament and painting played an important role in the development of world art.
